In Convictions I, artist June Edmonds reimagines the American flag using bold, textured brushstrokes and rich tones of brown to center Black American history and challenge traditional narratives of freedom and identity. Part of a larger series, the 2019 work reflects on civil rights, conviction, and the enduring fight for equality.
