Listen

Worn by Iatmul brides of Papua New Guinea, this woven headpiece features a crocodile-shaped design made of ceremonial shells—honoring a sacred creature in Iatmul mythology. Like a veil, it drapes down the bride’s head and signals her transition into marriage as she enters her new home.
