Muncie honors fallen firefighter Scott Davis

The city of Muncie Tuesday honored the life of a fallen firefighter.

Scott Davis’s family says he always wanted to be a firefighter.  He joined the Yorktown Fire Department when he was nineteen.  He moved to the Muncie department in 2005, almost six years to the day of his death.

Davis died last Wednesday when a roof collapsed during a fire at Tabernacle of Praise church.  He was the first firefighter to die in the line of duty in Muncie since 1955.

His coffin, draped with an American flag, was processed through Muncie to fire station number one for a last alarm ceremony, called out over emergency radios.

It reads, in part:  “And so, to those who have selflessly given their lives for the good of their fellow man, their tasks complete, their duties well done, to our comrade’s, their last alarm, they are going home.”
