The family of the Noblesville West Middle School 13-year-old shooting victim is detailing her injuries for the first time.

Ella Whistler’s family says she was shot seven times inside her science classroom.  She was shot in the face, neck, hand, and chest. She sustained collapsed lungs, a broken jaw, broken clavicle, multiple broken vertebrae, broken ribs, a severed vertebral vein and significant nerve damage.

While Whistler is in stable condition, her family says she faces a long recovery and will remain at Riley Children’s Hospital indefinitely.

Charges against the unidentified juvenile shooter are expected to be filed this week in Hamilton County court.

Also shot three times was Jason Seaman, the teacher who tackled and disarmed the shooter. Seaman was not seriously injured and was released from the hospital the day after the shooting.
