Ball State University has announced a Board of Trustees member has died in a plane crash in southern Indiana.

Wayne Estopinal has served on the Ball State board since 2011 and this week was re-appointed to the position by Governor Eric Holcomb.

Estopinal was CEO of TEG Architects in Jeffersonville, which specializes in healthcare buildings.  He was a 1979 graduate of Ball State.

Federal officials say three people were on board the small jet that crashed in a wooded area near Memphis, Indiana around 11:30 AM today.  No one on board survived.

In a statement, Ball State board chair Rick Hall says Estopinal “was an exceptional leader and passionate supporter of the University.”
