The University of Notre Dame is the latest Indiana college to move all classes online in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

In-person classes at the South Bend campus are suspended until the middle of April. Students are on spring break this week, that’s been extended through next week to give teachers a chance to ready online courses.

Paul Browne, the University’s Vice President of Communications says they don’t want traveling students coming back to campus.

“Returning a large to a concentrated piece of real estate I think increases the risk that we want to avoid until we can reassess mid-April.”

Regular non-teaching staff at the University will still report to work as usual. Any students, like international students, that live on campus will be able to remain there while classes are online.

Indiana University and Purdue University also announced this week they’d suspend in-person classes once students return from scheduled spring breaks.
