Muncie’s Vera Mae’s Bistro sold to local tech company Accutech

A downtown Muncie restaurant has been sold to a technology company down the street. As IPR’s Stephanie Wiechmann reports, Vera Mae’s Bistro is now owned by Accutech Systems.
Opened in 1999 as a catering business, Vera Mae’s Bistro has given downtown Muncie French bistro-style food and a place for parties and special occasions since expanding to a full restaurant in 2002.
Longtime owners Kent Shuff and Steve Fennimore have now sold the business to Accutech, a wealth management software company.
In a statement, Accutech says Vera Mae’s will continue as a restaurant and favorite menu items – like the French onion soup – will remain.
This isn’t the first Muncie business Accutech has acquired. It’s also purchased ad agency Intersection and Whitinger Strategic Services. And, it recently opened a restaurant and sports lounge in its own downtown Walnut Street building.

In addition to selling the business, Shuff and Fennimore have sold the building to Accutech, where they’ve lived in an apartment above the restaurant for decades. In a statement, they say they’ve purchased another home in Muncie and will be spending time here and in New Orleans.
